Losing the weight and keeping it off

If you are extremely over weight you will have to start smart and work up from there.  So you might make a commitment to walk around you house for 5 minutes every day.  Then just keep building on your time.  Change it up as often as you can so you body does not become use to your program.  If you make the activities fun (maybe walking with a friend) it will be easier to stick to it.  Set up a routine and stick to it.  Write down all that it means to you to lose weight.  Be extremely honest with the outcome if you don’t lose the weight.  Keep a journal of your progress.  All most every self help program recommends keeping a journal.  Instead of changing your diet try eating what you like and cutting the portions in half.  `If you get a hamburger for lunch, cut it in half and throw one half away before you even start eating so you are not tempted to eat it all.  Drink water and lots of it.  Drinking water is the easiest thing you will do to help you lose weight. Find a support system or someone that will help you stay focus and on track.  Do not give up when you stray off the path everyone will get off track once in a while.  You just have to get back on track as soon as you notice you are going in the wrong direction.  Last of all don’t make it more difficult than it is.  So many people don’t even try because they feel they could never accomplish all the things they need to do to lose weight and get back in shape.  That is what one day at a time is about.  Start out small and build on it each week.  Then it will not overwhelm you.
